First of all...
this coming weekend i'm gonna be changing the front grille again, going from the semi-mesh look to full, single-partition mesh.
Illustrations...
the pic on the left shows the standard grille, on the right is my photoshop attempt at making a mesh grille to resemble that on my car (was too lazy to go take a picture)
Image

these two pics show how it could/will look when i'm done with it... (without the headlight masks obv)
[these grilles cost anywhere between £40 and £80, so i'm gonna do it on the cheap]
ImageImage

for this little jobby, i ordered some paint to match the car's colour, filler to smooth things off and some cheap £4.50 steel mesh. (sod paying £20 for it at halfords)

and to add to the list of 'Engine' stuff i've also bought a new cotton (K&N style) red cone filter, not because i like the sound of it, but actually becuase it does help the car a little at top end.

[nag]

delays... delays...

cudnt do anything at all this weekend.

by the time i got home from uni on friday i still had a lot of other things to sort before being able to do anything of my own intrest. by the time i had settled it was almost dark, too dark to work on anything outside anyway - i did manage to fit the new cone filter tho (pics coming soon), but that did have its few mis-haps (eg: losing bolts n screws, losing some skin... the usual)

saturday was hectic... started a job at a hotel working behind the bar, from mid-day til 10pm (again, too late to do any work on the car), then i had to drive 50 miles to go to a "cruise" (in basildon, essex).

by the time i got home, the sun was already up... so i was pretty tired. only woke up again bout 2 hours ago. still in the process of doing all my laundry before goin back to uni in the nxt 2 or 3 hours for more exams.

[/nag]

few more things on my list of things to do:
-remove mudflaps
-remove door bump strips
-possibly color-code mirrors
-paint wheels?

...not too sure about the last one there. was thinking dark gray spokes with the silver lip. or any other ideas?

slight delay on starting things off with this 'project' due to exams and new job. once my exams are done there'll be progress!

Anyways, another few things to add to the list of things to do:

My audio setup in the rear of the car is a bit 'bodged', those who have seen my parcel shelf and 6x9s will know what i'm talking about.
here's the list:
-clean and smooth off the jagged edges round the 6x9s.
-clean/cover the 6x9s' cones.
-find mounting spot for tweeters
-install/bodge tweeters in place
-lay new wires from headunit to the boot
-clean up wiring behind the headunit (it's a bit loose)
-and finally... build a crossover for clearer sound.

i drew a quick n rough circuit diagram for the crossover:
Image

already got all the components for it, and some blank circuit boards. still need to buy new speaker wire and some connectors for all the speakers.

I will post pictures of whatever i remember to take a picture of.

oh, its simple... the straight lines are the wires, the dots are the connections between wires and components, the boxy looking components are resistors, and the double line looking components are capacitors. thats still a very simple circuit, so shouldnt be hard to understand.

Are the loops, or C shapes, wires crossing over but not connected together?

News:
-only 3 more days til im finished with uni, so work can commence on my car
-bought new door speakers. (5" yellow kevlar cone 280wmax) well it beats the daewoo 20wmax speakers (which surprisingly still work - just about)
-decided to buy a front lip/spoiler when ive got the money (i have considered a full front bumper, but i want it looking more on the stock side of things rather than balls out ricer)... here are my choices:

Another thing to concider is if this hug the bottom or your bumper, or do they sit down as an extension on the bumper?

If they're an extension you'll mess up the lines of your car as you've no side skirts. If you know what i mean..
If they hug the bumper they wont hand much lower than the stock bumper, but still change the look of it. And they'll sit flush with the lines at the side of the car from the sills etc.

bit of both so far then. lol

i like the first one because of its simplicity.
and i like the second one because it'll change the front of the car a lot more.

another thing, the foglight hole covers... think i'm gonna color-code them.

anyone else got any comments/suggestions?

they are both ones that hug round the bottom edge of the bumper instead of just extending it, and they sit an inch (at maximum) lower than the stock bumper.
