How to: Replacing the steering wheel on a lanos

Postby ooobiserooo » Sun Feb 26, 2006 1:22 pm

maybe it looks simple but its not THAT simple! for the first time it took me about 3h

1. put the flat screwdriver in the horn (on the wheel) and remove it!
2. unplug the horn wires
3. use a key21 (HARD) to remove the dark yelow screw that holds the wheel.
4. remove the wheel by pulling it thoward (PULL IT REALY HARD)
- when removing the wheel your will 100% turn your tires (so forget the stupid advice to balance the tires first)
5.connect the wheel head to the wheel with the screws that you bought with the wheel
6. when done mount the wheel AND NOW BALANCE the tires (DO NOT put the dark yellow screw)
- remove the little spring and put the wheel on place, LATER U MUST RETURN IT!
7. make a short test drive to be 100% the the position is right (tires and the weel looking the same way)
8. this is a messy part! Start screwing on the dark yellow screw to hold the wheel! BUT dont screw it to tight because if u do then you will not be able to move the wheel! the OMP factory made a mistake when making the head unit
8.1. THE TRICK IS THAT YOU SCREW IT UNTIL YOU CAN MOVE THE TIRES WITH THE WEEL LEFT/RIGHT! COUSE WHEN U PUT THE WHEEL ON AND U TURN THE DARK YELLOW JUST A FEW TIMES TO HOLD THE WHEEL FROM FALLING! THEN U TURN THE WHEEL BUT THE TIRES WILL NOT MOVE, SCREW IT MORE IN THE WILL WILL FIT IN PLACE"
8.2. TURN THE IGN. ON WHILE SCREWING THE NEW WHEEL ON! ITS EASYER TO TEST IF YOU CAN MOVE THE TIRES
WHAT HAPPENS IF U SCREW IT TO HARD: YOU WILL NEED TO CALL A FREND AND THEN THE TWO OF YOU WILL BRAKE YA ASSES TO REMOVE THE WHEEL
:( :(
